Interpretive walk with a local tour guide through a millennium old maritime heritage of Komiža, the oldest fishermen town in the Adriatic, center of fishery and fishing industry of this part of the Mediterranean.
Walk starts at the first line of defense against pirates where you will hear stories about ancient fishermen's knowledge that helped them to survive the harshest conditions on the sea and fight off pirates.
Visit the fisheremen museum, fort Komuna, learn about fishermen tools and meet the queen of our fishery, boat Falkuša, so called lego boat whose experience, along with our local dialect, is protected as a national cultural good of intangible heritage. Listen to the stories about the regatta with the longest tradition in Europe, a famous regatta with falkuša boats to the remotest Croatian archipelago, Palagruža.
Walk along the waterfront and through narrow stone fishermen street where you will feel the local way of life. Hear legends, fun facts and historical data, you will see the remains of the branch of the first cannery in the Adriatic, Neptun, also known world wide. Tour ends in pine tree shade, in front of the church of Our Lady of the Pirates, the only Virgin Lady Piratess in the world.
